Unboxing my new Keychron Q3 Max (ISO) mechanical keyboard. This is a seriously heavy keyboard with a super-satisfying sound and feel to the keys. I went with the Banana Tactile Gateron Jupiter switches.

I'll use this or my Ergodox EZ depending on where I'm at.

A strong "Backrooms" vibe.

One of the best known examples of the liminal space aesthetic, the Backrooms are usually portrayed as an impossibly large extradimensional expanse of empty rooms, accessed by exiting ("no-clipping out of") reality.

I'm not 100% sure yet as the Second Skin is still on but I think I've inadvertently put the badger's head too close to where my watch would be. Might have to switch to wearing it on my right arm or never wear a watch again! 😭

Mine kept me up to 3am last night. From day 1, one k3s node refused to be powered up with POE. Bought a new POE/NVMe header - didn't fix it! So bought a new Pi - and then the M2 chip decided it doesn't like running at full speed and kept being corrupted ever boot.
A Raspberry Pi 5 cluster with 4 nodes and 4 POE+/NVMe headers, a USB to NVMe connected at the bottom node. At the top node, an annoying power cable is plugged in due to a faulty Pi.

Got a substantial little home Kubernetes lab going on now. All powered by ArgoCD and code. But - I need to stop, go back and fully read the K3B docs, and understand the interactions between Flannel, CoreDNS, and Traefik - as I don't quite grok *WHY* this all works. 😜

And - DONE! One home Kubernetes cluster built from 4 x Raspberry Pi 5's, using Power-over-Ethernet (aside from 1 with a dodgy POE+ header). Almost totally built with Ansible. Costed about £630 all in. This weekend, I'll finish documenting it all here: chris.funderburg.me/posts/2024/1...
A kubernetes cluster, made with 4 raspberry Pi 5s and 4 POE+ / NVMe headers, all stacked between clear plexiglass layers. There are 3 green LEDs lighting up each level. A POE+ hub, and a wifi broadband router are in the background. A single NVMe to USB adaptor is at the bottom to the side. The output of `kubectl get nodes -o wide` on the Kubernetes cluster, showing all 4 nodes running and ready. Only the first node is running the control plane. 2 quick runs of hdparm showing disk speed. The NVMe drive via the hat is blazingly quick at 864 MB/sec. The NVMe drive inside the USB adaptor is horribly slow at 33 MB/sec. Feels like that should be faster as it's in the USB3 port.

A great weekend! I ordered a new hybrid car, and the new Kubernetes Rasberry Pi 5 cluster I'm building got off on a great start. (the POE+ / NVMe header works like a charm, so 3 more ordered) It boots in about 10 seconds.

I've made a start building a new #kubernetes cluster with #raspberrypi 5s. The big one here is made of 4 version 4s. All POE. I'm just waiting for the POE/NVMe header for the version 5 to be delivered. Then I'll test and build it to the same size, and profit.
