Normally what I do is accept I might be able to automate a % then do the rest manually; for example if all of /topic/ is redirecting to /new-topic/ then I'll do those that way, and save my mental energy for /unique-landing-page/ or /product-that-doesnt-have-a-direct-replacement/

Might not be great for performance but step one would be to group all URLs with a common destination into one line, so /page1/|/page2/ > /page3/ etc, that often trims a lot of stuff.

It's so hard not to "it depends" you because the site itself is such a big factor, but 1/

Round here is rife with it because it used to be a big mining/clay pit area and our proximity to liverpool. Spent way too much of my childhood sneaking into the old brickworks that is now a housing estate

This is incredibly boring, but this slightly incongruous wall has been down the road from me my whole life; about 6mo ago I found out it used to be part of a railway bridge and now I can't believe I never clocked it
