Hobby hobbyist, sometimes writer, lady-person in tech. Kinda emo. California.
I’ve been here long enough that trying to find old posts is a slog now. I’m going back to using hashtags as a filing system.

Historically this has led to some freaky consequences.

Particles have handedness, with I-wish-didn’t-know-this implications for our immune system
Everything is not the same through the looking glass. The behavior of many familiar objects, from molecules to elementary particles, depends on which mirror-image version we interact with.
How the Universe Differs From Its Mirror Image | Quanta Magazine
From living matter to molecules to elementary particles, the world is made of “chiral” objects that differ from their reflected forms.

The thing about artists is that they can not, will not shut up about any part of their process. They’ll talk about the minutia of like, brush fibers to anyone that’ll listen.

So why is it “you plebes don’t get this” instead of “here are my favorite prompts?”

What is a garden, exactly? Is it plants in place, or plants out of place?

If the gardener disappears, is it wild that very first day, or was it wild the whole time?

I keep coming back to this idea of what it looks like when you play against the algorithm. Like, what does it look like to be uh, anti-viral?

This version of the AI would’ve ripped on you for even asking about apartheid
For Control Panel Saturday, here's Paul E. Stinson's 1979 cover art for "Pillars of Salt," by Barbara Paul, which had an interesting afterlife in a few other contexts.

These little hedgehog shaped pots are around 2,500 years old, dating to the Late Period of Egyptian history. They are a type of pot called an “aryballos” which (as the name suggests) originate in Greece around this time or a little earlier. 🧵1/6

Rude to be sick when it’s this nice outside. In the old days we got sick in the depths of winter like civilized people

I think one of the best things you can learn is how to recognize when your own expectations are what’s holding you back. I’m operating at 20% of my usual output right now. 20%. But when I kept struggling for 100%, what I actually got done was 0. Letting 20% be ok was what let me move forward at all
this is a REALLY depressing time for many

which, for my writers - especially my marginalized people - can impact creativity & productivity

first: trust me, I'm right there with you. the struggle, y'all!!!

more importantly: do what you need to do for your mental health! be KIND to yourself!💖

My <<deeply irresponsible>> purchase of a (used!) pickup and little camper last summer not looking so stupid now.
At this rate I'm investing in covered wagons
BREAKING: Newark Airport is a full-blown disaster—800+ flights canceled, 5-hour delays, and the FAA bleeding staff like a severed artery.

This isn’t just Newark—it’s a nationwide meltdown in real time caused by a rotting, underfunded system.

And guess what? It’s about to get worse.
