Englishman adopted by beautiful 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Slightly left of centre. Enjoy polite, friendly, and respectful debate but will try to avoid arguments (that’s for the other place). Apparently I’m egotistical for speaking up for men’s right to be a father to their kids.
Does that mean I have to get rid of all my Hugo Boss suits? 😉

Respect that.

Yep. Can’t disagree. Should be all over SM.

The speech he delivered today was very good IMO. Ticked many of my boxes and the damage caused by Brexit mentioned twice.

(Suspect there won’t be much coverage by the media though)

Now just need to see more policies to actually deliver.

I finally bought my first EV last month. It wasn’t a Tesla (😇).

(It was a Ford).

This is where I do believe Starmer is doing a fantastic job.

Just loving the thought of him claiming unemployment benefit and queuing at a food bank.

One can dream!…

Because they can only think of rinsing the middle.

Eh? “Emotional nonsense”?

If your instinct is to get personal Barry I’d respectfully suggest might feel more at home in the other place.

Still ignoring the elephant in the room depressing economic growth and causing higher food prices.

Should I mention the B-word?

Plain to see for everybody but the Gov.

Being full of Scots is one reason I love living in Scotland!

Great country, great people.

On second thoughts they’ll still find some unhinged Loon (for “balance”) who’ll argue it’s a roaring success.

Do you think the BBC might now be brave enough to report it as such a failure?

And pigs might fly…
November 29, 2025 at 7:28 PM
It’ll fail.

I’m in Scotland. So not much chance (unless you’re home is a Scottish Baronial Castle estate/island)
November 28, 2025 at 3:18 PM
Bugger. I meant *they’re*

Given the freeze on tax thresholds affects low earners disproportionately - ppl expected better from Labour.

I certainly did.
November 27, 2025 at 6:51 PM
The millionaire/billionaire property owners could (and should) have been hit much much harder - cap the mansion tax at £5m….why?

Perhaps then the index-linking of tax thresholds could have been reintroduced which benefits low earners the most.

I don’t agree it’s any different to the effective charge per mile with fuel duty (we travel further, so use more fuel, so pay more duty).

A mileage tax was inevitable as more people (like me) buy EVs.

Even with a 3p/mile tax, it’s still far cheaper per mile for me than my last, diesel, car.

Of course if inflation was zero% then that’s where you’re correct.

But inflation is never 0%.
