Content warning: Spiders. This post from 2018 was one of my most liked (and also most hated) on the other site so why not reshare it here:

"Rediscovered unprocessed data of a spider building a web on my balcony. This composite image combines 2800 frames into one (minimum filter)."
A somewhat disturbing spoked wheel structure that appears to consist of countless entangled spiders. The view is against a blue sky with a blurry building in the lower left corner. It is actually a composite of 2800 individual images of a single spider building a web between balcony railings.

Two views of tonight's #ISS medium altitude pass over The Hague. This pass geometry allows for less detail than a high overhead pass but provides more varying perspectives. Each 30 x 0.3 ms RGB in Celestron 8" at f/10.

The right image is the view about 50 seconds later and shows clearly defined panels in the classic "tie fighter" look. In both views the solar panel appear subtly colored with a brownish hue.

Short time lapse of #ISS as it started to enter Earth's shadow at low altitude this evening over The Hague. Covers 15 seconds real time. There is gradual darkening and also a slight perspective shift can be seen. #astrophotography

First light for my new toy the Star Analyser SA-100. I tried it out last night on Vega. The dot on the left is the actual image of Vega (zero order maximum), on the right is the spectrum (blazed first order maximum).
Image is a very wide but narrow strip with a black background and a single white spot to the left and a horizontal colorful line on the right going from blue over green to red. There are some darker regions visible on the line that correspond to absorption lines of the spectrum.

Ridiculously tiny #Mars at 4.9 arcsec as it was hanging invitingly close to left of the lunar crescent this evening. 2000 x 10 ms RGB in Celestron 8" + 2.5x powermate + ADC. Moon shot 100 x 8 ms RGB in 300 mm f/4.0 lens.
Small and somewhat noisy reddish disk against black background. A hint of the brighter north pole with surrounding darker regions can be seen at the top. The illuminated western limb also appears very bright however this is common processing artefact. Large gray lunar crescent against black background with horns pointing to the upper left. Mare Crisium and Mare Fecunditatis are prominent large scale features.

In other news did another silly balcony fish shoot today but waited patiently for a bird to cross the field of view as well.

Mono view of ISS against black background. Direction of movement is up and slightly to the left. The modules show up as a bright center line next to the radiator as a bright rectangular grid. Perpendicular is the main truss with four largers solar panel however in this high overhead pass they are seen nearly edge-on and appear inconspicuous being both thin and dark.

This evening's #ISS pass over The Hague. 31 x 0.25 ms unfiltered mono in Celestron 8" at f/10.
White ISS against black background. The central axis with the main modules shows somewhat splotchy and partially overexposed structures. Above and below four large solar panels appear darker but still well illuminated in this perspective. Direction of movement is toward the left.

The classic genre of high-rise balcony fish photography. 1/250 sec EOS 400D in 300mm/f4.0 lens.
Close grouping of five or six large fish (probably carps) in greenish canal water. One of them appears brighter and more clearly visible due to viewing and lighting angle as well as depth. The others are either darker or more fuzzy.

Also here is today's #Sun in Ha. 1000 x 0.8 ms Ha < 0.7 Å in Lunt 40 at f/10. #astrophotography
Full disk view of the Sun. The interior show various dark filaments and AR 4079 to the upper left. In contrast to the white light image this shows bright structures in addition to the matching dark sunspot cores. The exterior is processed separately and reveals several prominences.

I haven't done much white light solar imaging since got a dedicated solar Ha scope but in honor of AR 4079 here is a sunspot closeup on today's Sun. 500 x 0.15 ms OD 3.8 solar foil + longpass red in Celestron 8" at f/10.
Monochromatic view of light granulated photosphere featuring darker "hairy" sunspots with black featureless cores. Somewhat below and right of center is a very large spot with a split double core. A smaller isolated spot is visible at the top left. In between is an irregular smear of some darker regions with a sprinkling of many tiny black specks.
