On 9/30, over 100 victim services grants from the DOJ Office for Victims of Crime expired, and new funding opportunities have not been released. Without new funding to replace these grants, thousands of #humantrafficking survivors will lose access to lifesaving services.

Immigrant survivors of #humantrafficking face incredible barriers as they try to find safety. Legal service providers play a critical role in helping survivors navigate our complex legal system and access the documentation they need to begin establishing long-term stability.

No person – including children – should face deportation in court alone.

@AsmMiaBonta’s bill AB 1261 expands access to a lawyer for unaccompanied children to defend their rights in court.

@CAgovernor - Protect children from Trump's mass deportations and sign AB 1261 into law!

Two victories for rights of immigrant children! After rejecting the federal government’s efforts to terminate the Flores Settlement last Friday, a federal court on Monday asserted that the government remains legally obligated to promptly process children & they be held in safe, sanitary conditions.

Today, the Center & co-counsel appeared at the Central District Court to continue to fight for protections for migrant children under the Flores Settlement. The government is detaining children for extended periods of time. Children should not be languishing in Border Patrol prisons. Period.

Our lawsuit doesn’t just justify the continued need for Flores - it shows that without it, systemic abuse will only escalate.

We and @childrens-rights.bsky.social, @youthlaw.bsky.social will continue to fight because we know that detention harms children and every child deserves humane treatment.
August 7, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Children are being jailed in immigration prisons, subjected to cruelty, neglect, and conditions that are not only unlawful but deeply inhumane in violation of Flores. These are children who have already fled war, persecution, and poverty, only to face continued trauma and mistreatment in the U.S.
August 7, 2025 at 3:08 PM
This Friday, August 8th, a federal court is holding a pivotal hearing on two motions related to the landmark Flores Settlement Agreement—a cornerstone of legal protection that, for nearly 30 years, has safeguarded the basic rights and humane treatment of children in federal immigration custody.

Trump's immigration machine is a cruelty franchise that promises to trample human decency and established rights all in the service of fear, destroying families, and remaking our country.

The Center stands in committed solidarity with immigrant communities and the necessity to establish protections for them. Our ED @sergioperez.bsky.social has been a vocal advocate. We hope this inspires you to uplift both the harms & the avenues for protections + resources in your community.

This is also why we MUST stop the Senate’s budget reconciliation bill.

It will put detained immigrant children in grave danger: eliminating crucial pathways to protection; permitting INDEFINITE incarceration of children & families in unlicensed ICE detention centers.

The average number of days children spend in immigration prisons has increased dramatically in 2025. This year alone, the number of children held for two weeks or longer has increased sevenfold!

This is why Flores must be protected.
June 26, 2025 at 4:31 PM
The Trump admin is jailing children for extended periods of time in violation of the Flores Settlement, which requires prompt release. Border Patrol runs some of the harshest & cruelest prisons that will never be safe for children, making every day spent there dangerous.

The motion includes heartbreaking testimonies from detained children & families, and makes it sadly clear: ending Flores would strip children of legal protections, subject them to indefinite detention in prison-like conditions, and inflict lasting trauma.

It’s unconscionable to try to tear it down.
June 25, 2025 at 2:38 PM
Flores Counsel has filed a motion to stop the Trump admin fr ending the Flores Settlement Agreement—one of the ONLY enforceable safeguards protecting immigrant children in federal custody.

We, @childrens-rights.bsky.social & @youthlaw.bsky.social will not stop fighting for safety & dignity of kids!

Our lawsuit doesn’t just justify the continued need for Flores - it shows that w/o it, systemic abuse will only escalate.

We will continue to fight for children’s protection & hold the gov't accountable for its ongoing violations.

The Flores Settlement remains the primary tool for protecting detained immigrant children’s freedom, health, & safety.

W/O Flores, kids suffer cruelty, neglect, & unlawful, deeply inhumane conditions like this migrant mother was held in a cramped & small room packed w/ 23 other women & children.
June 18, 2025 at 11:40 PM
The Center, @youthlaw.bsky.social, & @childrens-rights.bsky.social are counsel for Flores & represent all children protected under the Settlement. We enforce it when the gov't violates its provisions, protecting children from the vast harms of detention.
