Pretty embarrassing for journalists to have to overlay a "committing crimes" clarification in square brackets after the Prime Minister of NZ says "And it's pretty simple, we do not want people in the community." which frankly rings reasonably true given the exodus they have been driving.

FFS small towns often have relatively heavier traffic because they're service hubs for a wide area. I once moved from a big city to a town with a population a bit over 3k and the open air pedestrian mall was busier than Cuba St much of the time. Hell, check our Greytown or Martinborough any weekend!

There are heaps of studies you can check out for statistics, but here's one from Michigan that nicely summarises things in sentence. It takes barely a cursory search to throw up a hundred of these analyses for various locations and healthcare structures.
The distribution of health care costs is strongly age dependent, a phenomenon that takes on increasing relevance as the baby boom generation ages. After the first year of life, health care costs are lowest for children, rise slowly throughout adult life, and increase exponentially after age 50 (Meerding et al. 1998). Bradford and Max (1996) determined that annual costs for the elderly are approximately four to five times those of people in their early teens. Personal health expenditure also rises sharply with age within the Medicare population. The oldest group (85+) consumes three times as much health care per person as those 65–74, and twice as much as those 75–84 (Fuchs 1998). Nursing home and short-stay hospital use also increases with age, especially for older adults (Liang et al. 1996).

Chlöe Swarbrick is bang on here. We have a deeply corrupt government with no plan for a future New Zealand - only for their own interests.

Sometimes people use "respect" to mean "treating someone like a person" and sometimes they use "respect" to mean "treating someone like an authority" and sometimes people who are used to being treated like an authority will say "if you won't respect me I won't respect you" and they mean "if you won't treat me like an authority I won't treat you like a perspn" and they think they're being fair but they aren't, and it's not okay.

This is absolutely the correct framing:
A recent editorial cuts through the disingenuous equality framing of the bill by Seymour and his backers and the complex arguments about Māori sovereignty by the Opposition. In short, it argues that the bill is about opening up New Zealand to corporate exploitation for profit. It’s as simple as that. As noted by the editorial writer Rupert O’Brien, “The Treaty principles have proved a significant roadblock to both corporatisation and privatisation in the past and present a clear threat to any plans of future development of public assets to the private sector. This effect is likely one of the key, although unstated, reasons for the push to return Te Tiriti to its erstwhile status as a simple nullity.” I suggest this is the message we should be hammering home in Oppositional arguments to the bill. As part of the messaging, we should make clear the ties that Seymour and his backers have to corporate interests, both domestic and international and their plans to appropriate and exploit natural and public resources for private enrichment. The message should be simple: The Treaty protects all New Zealanders from corporate exploitation. This bill is about the people (tangata whenua and tangata tiriti) vs corporate profits.

Centrix data shows the number of business liquidations is increasing in all regions, but most sharply in Auckland, white there were 383 in the second quarter of this year, compared to 56 in Wellington, 118 in the rest of the North Island, and 61 in Canterbury. That equates to about 1.8 business closures per 1000 business in Auckland, well ahead of the rate of less than one per 1000 being recorded in Wellington.
