Anyone with friends or family in Wisconsin, be aware of Schimel’s probable inability to be impartial when it comes to women’s health issues. Pass the word.

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social please consider a daily wrap-up of important issues and the Dems’ response, as well as ways we (the not-important-but-quite-concerned) can be most useful. Your leadership and calm, trust-inspiring intelligence is needed now.

These men and women served with honor before DEI was a thing. There’s no reason to remove history from anything, unless your goal is to eliminate mention of any non-white, non-male folks. If that’s the plan, shame on all associated with this. These heroes deserve to have their names known.
The Air Force has removed training courses with videos of its storied Tuskegee Airmen and the Women Airforce Service Pilots to comply with the crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. www.stripes.com/branches/air...

Just wrote a thank you email to Bishop Budde for her courage in speaking truth to power. Among other poor character traits, Trump is a bully. I wish everyone had the sense of rightness that Bishop Budde has.

Hey all recent Bluesky folks! Welcome! Finding people you have things in common with can be tricky. Look for “starter packs” by googling and you can find conducting, choral music, classical music, and all sorts of lists of folks that might be fun to follow.

For everyone who thinks it was just “an awkward gesture,” no, it was not.

Hey new friends! If you’ve just activated your Bluesky account, you’ll probably be slammed with a bunch of junk accounts that are tied to porn. They usually have numbers in their name and a pic of some sort of undress. Mute first and then block. Unless you’re into that. LOL

Am I the only New Orleanian to use the holidays as a total excuse to try all kinds of restaurants?

If you’re in the New Orleans area and jonesing for some Classical Christmas, I got you—Orpheum tonight at 7:30 with the LPO. Some Menotti—with a rather beautiful oboe duet—some Mendelssohn (Vom Himmel hoch), and some Handel (selections from “Messiah”) with my choir and the LPO. Please say hi!!

Say, does anyone else notice in their “suggested” feed that sometimes multiple accounts will show up with the exact same skeet at the same time? Hmmm….

My profile pic is St Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, and it’s her feast day today. I’m celebrating with rehearsal—yay!!—and listening to the Britten “Hymn to St Cecilia.”

This is my choir performing a work by Dylan Tran, poetry by Jack B Bedell, called “Color all maps new.” It’s about the effects of climate change and coastal erosion on the culture of south Louisiana. Please enjoy!!

Was talking about how those of us “of a certain age” were raised to think that, because we were girls, we needed to be less than what we could be in order to not intimidate men and attract a mate. THINK ABOUT THAT. Gah. From BIRTH, we were taught that. That programming is difficult to undo.

My trebles are singing tonight with our local orchestra and I’m stoked. It’s the ooh-aah’s of Debussy “Sirénes” and Holst “Neptune” from The Planets, and it’s lit. Those are DIFFICULT parts, y’all! Shout out if you’ve sung them and send some love!!

Just saw a student wearing a brown and black striped tail with a white tip. It was the only uncommon thing about his attire. What the heck? I couldn’t figure it out. It wasn’t a raccoon.

Y’all, two words to rock your taste buds—honeynut squash. Yes, all right, I ate it for breakfast but no one who tasted it would blame me.
