These men and women served with honor before DEI was a thing. There’s no reason to remove history from anything, unless your goal is to eliminate mention of any non-white, non-male folks. If that’s the plan, shame on all associated with this. These heroes deserve to have their names known.

Just wrote a thank you email to Bishop Budde for her courage in speaking truth to power. Among other poor character traits, Trump is a bully. I wish everyone had the sense of rightness that Bishop Budde has.

If you’re in the New Orleans area and jonesing for some Classical Christmas, I got you—Orpheum tonight at 7:30 with the LPO. Some Menotti—with a rather beautiful oboe duet—some Mendelssohn (Vom Himmel hoch), and some Handel (selections from “Messiah”) with my choir and the LPO. Please say hi!!

Was talking about how those of us “of a certain age” were raised to think that, because we were girls, we needed to be less than what we could be in order to not intimidate men and attract a mate. THINK ABOUT THAT. Gah. From BIRTH, we were taught that. That programming is difficult to undo.

Just saw a student wearing a brown and black striped tail with a white tip. It was the only uncommon thing about his attire. What the heck? I couldn’t figure it out. It wasn’t a raccoon.
