out walking the dog in the last crisp cold air of sunset, I looked up as two vees of geese bracketed Venus. as they passed, I hopscotched the planets west to east: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, a silent catenation of bystanders, witnesses, jury. family. it all goes on. the wild geese are heading home again
