Diabetes treatments may reduce asthma attacks by up to 70% - Metformin reduced attacks by a third and GLP1 drugs (e.g. Ozempic) added a further 40% reduction 🫁

We found in 2 studies (cohort & self-controlled case series) that metformin (cheap, available, oral) associated with c.30% lower asthma attacks. Adding GLP-1 had 40% further effect. This was NOT from better glycaemic control/weight loss. Seen in T2 low & high asthma.
