If you add alt text, which has a very generous length limit, then the visually impaired can read it also.

It's so disappointing when people post AI generated images as real, credit them to NASA, then turn off commenting (and quote posting) and hide all comments that point out the image is AI generated.

Peak hour traffic when there's a cyclone bearing down on us (so they say, at least 🙂)...

You're all very welcome to come and join us 🙂

Though things are gonna go to shit here this year... current government will most likely lose the election, which means we get Voldemort as PM. To give you an idea what this guy is like… Trump loves our horrific asylum seeker policy, which he designed.

Yep, they knew exactly what they were getting, and they chose it again. Fuck the lot of them. And not in a good way!

As for me... sorry, I've been lazing at the beach for a couple of weeks. 🙂

And... thank-you for this... though I need to do better! 🙂

If you’re aware of the seating arrangements at President Jimmy Carter’s funeral, you’ll know just how wonderful this photo is…

The supernova that resulted in the Crab Nebula was observed in 1054, so 970 years ago... just a blink of an eye in cosmic terms!

Here's a Hubble shot of it...

Hah, now I can't unsee it... how could you? 😂

Thankfully only really works in the NIRCam version... not the MIRI or combined NIRCam/MIRI images (largely because of the color mapping chosen, I suppose 🙂).

This is the photo (I actually posted it on one of your threads in early December 🙂).

Note that I'm uploading the original photo, which includes full location data (which is my home address).

Try downloading it, then opening it in an EXIF viewer (like jimpl.com, for example).

Here's an example of the metadata left on a photo after uploading it to Bluesky (the metadata on the original photo included full details of the camera - my phone - used to take it, as well as my location and many other things).

With a single tweet, Elon encouraged me to set up a recurring donation to Wikipedia. Thanks mate... appreciate it! 😉

Is there some irony in the fact that one of the biggest proponents of humanity getting off the planet is also one of the biggest contributors to the Kessler Effect? 🤔
