The longer I live, the more weird I'm convinced that I am.

I finally met up with an old friend who lives in Los Angeles, but we haven't had a chance to meet.

I discovered that he works about four blocks from where I live.

Now, I live in a wildly diverse neighborhood with restaurants, taco […]

[US Politics]

In three years, I'm going to bet two things:

1. No American will admit that they voted for Donald.
2. No Californian will admit that they voted for Proposition 50.

It took away House representatives from Republicans in California. It made California less (small-d) […]

Are there servers on the Fediverse that are particularly good for a joke account along the lines of "Riker Googling"?

I have an idea...

I introduced Eli to Qamaria coffee: a Yemeni-run coffee chain with light desserts.

It is _extremely_ popular with the laptop crowd. Their mezzanine was completely full, with people typing rapidly and guzzling good coffee.

Their coffee really is good. It has Middle-Eastern and Indian flavors […]

This is the last weekend that Citizen Public Market, a food hall in Culver City, will be open. And... to my complete shock, it's only about half full.

Yes, there's a big screen TV playing the game. There's a half dozen restaurants open. And there are lots of empty seats.

This. Is. Weird.

[US Politics, joke]

On Epstein's private island, where there is no police around and anything could be done, inside the sanctuary where even things not whispered on the rest of the island could be done, Epstein had a hidden camera.

He had the greatest possible blackmail on the future U.S […]

I make popcorn as a snack in the afternoon. I tend to mix spices to make it more interesting.

I added onion, paprika, a little salt, and butter today. Only when I made that mix did I realize...

I had created popcorn paprikash.

[Large neural networks]

People have been using large neural networks to... fake receipts.

Wait. What?

I didn't know that faking receipts was even... mildly difficult.

When I worked for a large company, at least twice, I created receipts for restaurant meals so that every I could be dotted […]

I just voted in California's special election for proposition 50.

I voted YES.

In a perfect system, California would send to the US House of Representatives roughly the same percent of Republicans as the percent that voted in the general election. But the US is not a closed-list […]

Hello from Chinchikurin Sawtelle!

"Dude" doesn't pass the giggle test.

What's the giggle test? Compare "dude" against a really non-gendered word like "redhead".

"Before he was married, Mel Gibson liked to fuck redheads."

No giggle.

"Before he was married, Mel Gibson liked to fuck dudes."

HUGE giggle.

[Nudity described]

Hello from Wi Spa!

The basement is the women's level. I've never been there.

The first floor is the men's level with three soaking tubs, two saunas, and the salt scrub area where they clean every square millimeter of skin. No […]
