A major step forward for our independent line over the last 2 days. An 18 wagon train brought in 900 tons of ballast that was laid along our 800m independent line, which connects our platform at Princes Risborough with Thame Jcn. The next step is to tamp the track and connect up signalling equipment

We are currently closed for the winter but behind the scenes our volunteers are still busy working.
We are running works trains throughout the winter, along with this train which was used for training several of our Operations trainees.

The line up is now complete for our first ever Steam Gala. The third star guest is sole surviving Caledonian 439 Class 55189, courtesy of our friends at SRPS. She joins 7820 Dinmore Manor & GWR Small Prairie 4555 for 3 days of intensive steam action 13-15 Sept!

The line up is now complete for our first ever Steam Gala. The third star guest is sole surviving Caledonian 439 Class 55189, courtesy of our friends at SRPS. She joins 7820 Dinmore Manor & GWR Small Prairie 4555 for 3 days of intensive steam action 13-15 Sept!
A major advance with our Independent Line extension into Princes Risborough as 400 yards (21 panels of 60ft, each 11 tonnes) of pre-loved track arrives at Thame Jcn, kindly donated by Network Rail. No longer useful on the Mainline but with lots of life left for our lightly used line.

Do you like to work and play hard? Our Friday Gang invite you to join them! Originally rebuilding Platform 4 at Princes Risborough, they turned to many other tasks at the PR end of the railway including TRM repairs; various Groundworks and repairs; track laying; and weedkilling.

The S&T dept installs & maintains all signalling + phone kit on our Railway. Using heritage kit & traditional methods, it's a mix of civil, mechanical & electrical engineering with a systems overview. A range of skills are needed inc metalworking, building, carpentry, & trenching

We are looking for new Volunteer Event Coordinators to help extend our special events and attract even more families and adult couples. Events add new interest to our Standard Days and encourage repeat visits. Event management experience & weekend availability are important. DM for info.

Our Carriage and Wagon group meets on Tuesdays and covers the maintenance repair & overhaul of our 9 coaches + many goods wagons
Training is provided but many skills are acquired as we go. Basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, or the ability to drive a spanner and oil can are all useful.
