So I’ve been calling all 3 of my gov’t reps about one issue basically every weekday.

This morning a staff picked up and asked for my name. I gave it and he said go ahead with my comment. I asked “wait, you don’t need my address or zip code?” He replied “Oh we already have you on file here.”

I always like to have more data sources so my husband and I also pay for this very detailed weather app called OpenSnow. It has so much info: wind gust forecast, air quality estimates, and shows where the smoke will go over time too.

A free mobile app I used often before, during, and after wildfires is Air Visual to see when (and where) the air quality is safe to go outside on a walk for my mental health. It also has rough forecast for the next few days

This morning I woke up and went to go feed my cat without my glasses. I stepped in his vomit, and thankfully I was wearing slippers at least…very appropriate way to start 2025, honestly

Storytelling is one of my chosen forms of activism.

It is serendipity then that for the Tin House workshop, I was selected to be in a group led by an award-winning author who’s a fellow immigrant woman of color.

I cannot wait to learn from Natalia Sylvester and others soon 💖

Post-election, I was going through the stages of grief. Eventually I arrived at “What’s the point of writing a YA novel anymore?”

After finishing StoryStudio Chicago's excellent "YA Novel in a Year" program, I got accepted into Tin House's online winter workshop!

When I got the email, I was at a restaurant and started crying. It felt like the validation and confirmation I needed to keep going on this long writing journey.
