Tested out my hammock shelter setup in a 23 degree late afternoon in Telluride. Worked great!

I keep a little grooming kit in my bag because otherwise I’ll make myself bleed picking at hangnails, etc. I sometimes feel ashamed that I need it.
But.
It just occurred to me that this is a self care kit. I carry it everywhere because I’m worth taking care of.
That’s kinda beautiful, actually.

Hey Bluesky, did you know about snow plants? They don’t photosynthesize; instead they parasitize fungi that are attached to tree roots. Also they look like vampiric broccoli.

I had foot surgery last year to correct a long-standing issue and now I can walk as much as I want without pain, which is lovely! So I’ve been getting back into hiking and backpacking. Went and climbed half some recently with my sister! View from the top:
