This is a model of the 18Z OUN sounding taken on 5/20/2013: which is the day of the Moore OK EF5.
That little tornado is an accurately sized Moore! With an LCL of roughly 800m, and a width of 1900m

Cold Front turbulence I had the “pleasure” of seeing on 4/4 as a far too quickly progressing CF crashed past me in North Texas; entirely quelling any shot I had at seeing a SVR/Tornadic storm
Was pretty, but I did kinda want a danger noodle of the sky

Update on the Jarrell project:
I just cannot seem to find Don Greene’s 1997 (October) article for Associated Press on the F5.
That article very well could be the holy grail of information. If ANYONE has it, I will thank you to the moon and back for getting it

Partly obscured by rain; this beastly supercell was my first exposure to how actually massive these storms are. This titan went on to produce an EF1 in Irving TX on 3/16/23; before becoming a mothership in Dallas

This is extremely interesting; but makes me think something.
Are the ways we’re thinking of tornadogenesis, too narrow? It’s incredibly logical to think that tornado formation isn’t uniform across each setup: just like the top/bottom formation debate.
Requires further exploring!

Is it possible that tornadoes form from the easiest source of vertical vorticity to be stretched by an updraft? Traditional forecast parameters, like LL shear and low LCLs still prevent excessive outflow and should work here too. 2/

This is extremely interesting; but makes me think something.

I now have gotten my (goblin) hands on a particularly rare Jarrell photo 👀
I’ll be sharing it’s origin later today; but I did find it within a photo article! But be warned.. there is a not so pleasant photo of a cow within the article :(

I’ve discovered many, extremely uncommon newspapers surrounding the infamous 1997, Jarrell Texas F5. I’ve never seen these brought up anywhere, and the 3rd paper describes a first hand account; which was given on 5/28/1997
