When someone dies, a child’s sense of safety can be rocked. If you can, try to keep to a normal routine, which will make them feel safe, and keep them informed about plans for the day ahead, including when you will be home and who will be looking after them.

We shared our new animation ‘Room for an elephant’ with our group for young people and asked them what people did that helped them in the grief (written in blue) and what didn’t help (written in red).
