Many restaurants and few businesses in the neighborhood of Boyle Heights in Los Angeles have their doors locked after hearing of the detention. A mariscos restaurant I’m eating at has coverage of the pope’s response to the raids; the waitress is nervously watching the door.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

But ICE is only allowed to arrest people who are undocumented. If the man assaulted someone, then the LAPD should have arrested him. Frankly, it all sounds suss to me! I don’t believe a word of it!

The Department of Homeland Security has released a statement regarding the arrest, which states that the man they took into custody is accused of “punching a CBD officer,” during protests in Paramount, CA.
They have provided a name but no evidence as of yet. I’ll follow up.
