Speck didn't mind the new name. It made perfect sense, because that's what they were: the puniest little speck of a thing in the world, smaller than fairies, smaller than bugs, smaller than the crumbs their girlfriend left around the apartment floor on the days when Razzle wouldn't let them use their wings. They'd had another name once, they thought, but it was too gendered, too prone to making people call them "sir." A teensy little thing almost too small to exist, barely visible to the naked eye… that was much more gender. They certainly didn't mind being transformed into a fairy forever. They didn't really know how it had happened, except that when Speck had been at their smallest–a speck to a speck–Razzle had seemed in total control. And anyway, having wings they could use when the wind wasn't too harsh and enough magic to interact with the world of people big enough to be actual humans and people smoothed over a lot of the edges of being the size of a fairy's fingertip. It wasn't even the dress. Speck liked dresses. When Josie had cleaned out their old closet for the last time, they'd had a few to wear to parties. They really missed a nice pink frilly skirt that Josie swooned over, but it was bigger than a shopping mall now. Dresses were cute. It was this dress, this little pink number with bare shoulders and a skirt that barely crossed Speck's waist, never mind their hips. It wasn't flattering the way Razzle's was because Razzle actually had hips and a big round human thumbprint-sized butt. It just left them bare-legged and constantly tugging it down in the hopes it might cover even the top of the cute little bulge in their panties for longer than a second--as if any human could ever see that bulge.
