Now Aaron, make sure you give the rest of the story. We’ve got ECE workers who are about to get a pay cut, this would be an excellent time to fully fund my Give SNAP a Raise bill. What about the 25K ppl transitioning from Medicaid who need dental coverage. There was no conversation.

🍂Leaf collection for Section A begins today!

Make sure your leaves are at the curb or treebox so DPW crews can collect.

Not sure if you’re in Section A? Find your section and schedule with the Leaf Tracker at dpw.dc.gov/leaf.

Building a ballroom while SNAP & WIC payments are about to get cut off and health insurance premiums skyrocket is crazy.

If Dems aren’t running ads by Wednesday….

SNAP benefits for 42 million Americans will not go out as planned November 1 if the shutdown continues.

My neighbors put a bonnet on their skeleton and it immediately put a smile on my face. 🤣🤣

And the rat who is unafraid is such a DC touch. 😭

Lovely to see VP Harris last night at the historic Warner Theater in DC.

“There’s gonna be a lot of debris when this administration is done. When it comes time for rebuilding let’s not be too nostalgic because it’s not like what we had was perfect.”

Closing the larger entrance for the Navy Yard-Ballpark station for escalator repair 1 week before Nationals Park hosts 3 sold out events leads to this.

Dangerous bottleneck on the street level. Bottleneck at the machines. And near empty cars because folks can’t actually get to the platform in time.

Do folks signed up for the Empower rideshare app know that the company has used their email addresses to send out thousands of emails to elected officials over the last 72 hrs?

There appears to be about 6 different scripts. But this cosplay of AAVE really had me 🤔.

Politico Playbook led with the domestic troop deployment fights in the newsletter this morning.

Axios and Punchbowl News don’t mention it. 🙄

I don’t understand how Texas sending troops to invade Illinois or the president ordering California troops to invade Oregon is not leading?!

The “enemy from within” rhetoric is not new.

~20 days before the election he said in a town hall he thought political opponents were more a threat to the US than Russia or China.

He suggested using National Guard & the military.

The signs were there. The warnings went unheeded.

Finished 107 Days.

Reading this in the midst of all the terrible shit going on across the country makes it heavy to get through.

And that is not a knock on VP Harris. The subtitle of this book could’ve been: We. Tried. To. Tell. Y’all.

Touring portions of the @wmata.com system with DMVMoves today. The control room at Farragut North Station was built in the 1970s. It has not seen significant upgrades since then. While safe, unfortunately, it’s not always reliable.

This is from 2017. Still very very relevant.

When I tell y’all I’m tired….

I know Dems strive to be a “big tent” but I’d hoped they could reach consensus on the fact that federal adult prison is not the appropriate place for a 14-year-old.

(And yes, unique to DC — adults convicted even of local crimes serve their time in the federal system)

Back on the Hill this afternoon. Tonight, the Rules Comm will vote on 4 DC bills. It’s anticipated they will be on the House floor Tues & Wed.

Bills would:
- Eliminate the Judicial Nom Commish
- Allow 14yo to be tried as adults
- Allow police vehicular pursuits w/ no guardrails

Here’s my statement on today’s House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform mark-up of 14 (well, 16 now) bills regarding the District of Columbia.

These folks are not serious.
September 10, 2025 at 11:41 PM
House Oversight Committee currently debating a bill to require cash bail in the District.

DC law is near identical to the federal Bail Reform Act of 1984.

Pretrial detention should be based on whether someone is a public safety risk, not based on whether than can afford to pay.

Justice Sotomayor’s dissent on today’s SCOTUS order which allows the government to make indiscriminate immigration stops of anyone who looks Latino or speaks Spanish is absolutely worth the read.
