My mom repurposed this massive binder for recipes she’d copied or clipped. It has tabs and handwritten indices for each section.

It stood for over 100 years. Sheltered my grandparents, mom, and aunt, and periodically the next two generations. When it cools, we’ll push the remains into the basement and cover it all up. Fitting enough end, I suppose.

I know! And my aloe plant also bloomed! I’ve been around aloes all my life—my mom had the ancestor of this one—and I’ve NEVER, in 60 years, seen one bloom!
