A non-insignificant number of people were eyeing him as a 2028 candidate too. Unless he’s shooting to be fairly confrontational (which this doesn’t sound like he will be) he might just torpedo his support.

Being in Michigan with both a senate seat and governorship up for grabs in 2026 it’s concerning to hear near radio silence from state leadership on all the insanity. The only people I’ve seen consistently commenting here is Buttigieg and, while I like him, I’m not sure he’d win the senate seat.
