Getting an early start on the Halloween garden - all decorations homemade by the Crandall fam mostly from repurposed stuff (amazing what you can do with pool noodles and discarded fake flowers!)

We spotted this in our evening walk and it led me down a rabbit hole of rusty spider wasps info!

Turns out these female wasps paralyze their spider prey then drag it back to their nest like here, lay one egg, attach it to the spider, & bury it. Once hatched the larvae has spider dinner!

Learned something new about myself a few weeks ago, sharing it with you all here too because visibility matters and I’m happy to be open about this newly discovered part of myself.

In addition, most of our surveyed fish and wildlife agency social scientists were experiencing capacity, ideological, institutional, and/or knowledge barriers to at least a moderate degree, hindering successful social science integration.

In our survey of fish and wildlife agency social scientists, we saw that most felt their work was valued by their organization.

However, many did not feel social science was consistently integrated into management decisions.

From reefs to rivers: spanned the state this month and followed up our family week in the Florida keys with a few days meeting in the far western panhandle and visiting our amazing rivers ❤️
