It is sad that anyone would denigrate or threaten this agency — sad, ignorant, short-sighted, and really really really dumb. Especially sad given how much love and dedication the employees of NOAA give to their profession and country.

Instructors can help by issuing invitations. We can tell them about the times when we did or didn’t seek help and how it worked out, show them that we’re vulnerable and imperfect and that our vulnerabilities and imperfections make us better humans and scientists.

Science is a team sport. Learning is a team sport. We all do better when we help each other.

Asking for help is difficult, especially for our grad students and high achievers. They fear being outed for not being perfect. I felt that way myself when I was a student.
