OK. I did not realize that British troops were involved in that area, thought it was purely Italian. But I see now that they were sent in even before the Italian collapse at Caporetto. Interesting.

If a park ranger at Yellowstone tells you not to step off the boardwalk at the geyser basin, is s/he "acting like a policeman" or keeping you from being cooked alive? I taught 100-400 level writing classes for years -- I get the "find your voice" rhetoric -- but you have to do the work yourself.
