One of my volunteer gigs is hauling (sometimes capturing) injured raptors for the Raptor Center, collecting orphan fawns & other critters for rehabbers, and sometimes releasing them in the wild. Yesterday's run was especially bittersweet: www.southernrockiesnatureblog.com/2025/11/the-...

It's funny how Amanita muscaria has gone from scary to therapeutic. I saw the needle start to swing in the late 1990s, and now if you're not using it, are you really fungi-maxing? Links to upcoming online conference below & in comment.https://www.facebook.com/amanitaonlinecongress

A former Marine scout-sniper and now Heathen priest discusses his "ministry" of using psilocybin to treat vets with PTSD w/ insights on how US Religious freedom has evolved. There's a lot of getting-to-know-you chat up front; the second half is more interesting.

I was out yesterday when thunder rumbled, and my friend muttered, "Božji kladivo."

"That's Bojon," he said to me -- Pueblo (CO) Slovenian.

He learned the expression from his wife's Slovenian grandmother.

It means "God's hammer." Comes in handy this time of year when storm gods walk.

Me, I welcome Mercury Retrograde; it's my catch-up time.
Needed to buy a thing, write, build, sign, or fix a thing, but were worried about Mercury being Retrograde?
Now is your chance because Mercury will be cazimi between 31 July at 19:42 UT and 1 August at 3:42 UT.
When cazimi (conjunct 🌞), Mercury gets the upgrade it needs to go into overdrive.

Four inches+ of rain in the past week. Seasonal showers for a Louisianan, I know, but A LOT for us. Mushrooms popping. Going to have to take a pulaski and build water bars on some of the paths in the woods up in back.
