#mgmt0180 - Meanwhile in Ontario, Bill 60 was passed. Gives more power to landlords as a reaction to tenants who do not pay rent on time. There was public outcry at ON Leg by renter protection groups. Tax sales process still gives a lot of flex to pay arrears in comparison!

Bill 60: What Tenants and Landlords Need to Know
While framed as a way to cut red tape and encourage rental supply, the bill carries wide-reaching implications for both landlords and tenants. However, if implemented, this bill can shift not only lea...

#MGMT0180 - do you have to handle a large volume annually in your RM?

#mgmt0180 - if I look at the amount of municipal taxes I pay, I would expect a recurring pothole in front of my home to be refilled properly...so agree that amount we pay not equal to benefits received!

#MGMT0180 - away with child labour and unsafe work practices in the 1800s, very progressive in Halifax! Good search - I tried keyword bylaw in Bluesky and nothing was coming up.

#mgmt0180 - a bit of chicken and egg...some say that bringing more people back downtown will "gentifry" but others say more opportunities for negative interactions. Funny how at the start of COVID, everyone was complaining about lack of social contacts from having to work at home.

I agree #MGMT0180 - the earlier we give people a sense of civic responsibility, the more involved they may remain for life. Would be a practical application of their high school civic classes for sure.

House arrest for defrauding while working from home...Wonder if this should also open up the discussion about which functions can be done from home and which at municipal offices. While physical presence is not a panacea to fraud, it might have reduced opportunity in this case #MGMT0180

#mgmt0180. Really enjoyed this Braeden. We talk a lot more about mental health these days than in the past and this is a prime example of how we can be our own worst enemy when we don't take a moment to celebrate our accomplishments! Seek (and appreciate) what brings you joy - great reminder!

#MGMT0180 - bad actors, personal and health toll for trying to do the right thing, loss of initial sense that one could make a difference, etc.

#MGMT0180 - there has to be consequences for inaction or bad action and disregard for Codes of Conduct, ethics, etc. Otherwise this further undermines the rule of Democracy in our society, at all levels.

#MGMT0180- Fair point about potentially missing content if a topic is being debated too quickly for accurate note-taking. The recording ensures transparency and helps the notetaker double check!

#MGMT0180 - I note some published minutes on RM web sites have meeting portions that are in-camera (not recorded nor in public). These could include a debate about hiring a new CAO for example, non-public matter. So agree that timely, posted minutes are a must while actual recording is nice to have

#mgmt0180 It seems like RMs are voting with their feet when they decide to withdraw or do you think that is just to show to snub Winnipeg? I think I need to read more about Plan 2050.

#mgmt0180 Love the movie metaphor!

#mgmt0180 - some countries fine citizens who do not vote...I suppose for a municipality, they could use positive reinforcement like a token $ reduction in municipal taxes for citizens who votes in the last election (same year as election or for 4 years before next one?).

Good reminder that it is at the municipal level that we often see the closest impact to our daily lives!
