Fascinating world of ancient #glass: This #Roman flask in the form of a fish was found in Cologne, 3rd c. AD.
We don't know what is was used for, maybe the shape relates to the content (fish sauce), maybe it was used to hold oil.

A stunnning miniature portrait of the #Roman empress Agrippina Minor (15-59 AD), made from chalcedony. Agrippina was the mother of Nero, and married to her uncle, emperor Claudius. It was rumoured that she poisoned her husband with a dish of mushrooms.

A tiny #Egyptian #frog amulet, made of carnelian (height 0.9 cm). Because of their numerous offspring, #frogs were considered a symbol of fertility.
Dating c. 1540-1296 BC, New Kingdom.

A cheek-piece from a #Roman helmet, beautifully worked with an image of the winged goddess Victory holding a battlefield trophy, made from the arms & armour of the defeated enemy. As this is high-quality work, the helmet it was originally part of probably belonged to an officer 🏺AncientBlueSky

This copper alloy arm purse found in the #Roman settlement of Nida (Frankfurt-Heddernheim) was used as a secure method to carry coins. To spend the money, the purse had to be removed from the arm.
