There's a huge difference between being "deeply ashamed" and "deeply embarrassed." Deeply ashamed comes with apologies to the people you wronged and vows that you've realized the errors of your ways and won't reoffend. Deeply embarrassed comes with no apologies, promises or admission of wrongdoing.
