Went wassailing in a misty Lordship Rec today. The apple trees are now adorned with toasted bagels.

OMG I've just discovered the National History Museum's Christmas decorations and I need all of them. Especially the crab.

Corbridge: the most northerly town of the Roman empire. Enjoyed the small museum and it's a great site to wander around. The channels under the granaries allowed air to flow so that the contents stayed dry.

We had an excellent visit to Beamish living museum yesterday. The staff and volunteers in the shops and houses were brilliant - friendly and informative. And we have loads more still to see on a return visit.

Delighted by this find while clearing out stuff at my parents' house: a torn page from the Croydon Advertiser 28 July 1989, autographed for me by Gilly Coman at the "gala opening" of In Shops. Yes, I am keeping it.

Stumbled across Rye House gatehouse yesterday on a stroll up the New River (and back down the River Lea). Sadly we were a day too early to go inside. Bonus: there's a nice pub directly opposite, with a riverside garden.
