In addition to the project I've been sharing for #smutcember, I'm almost done with my first draft of Manifestations, which is an urban fantasy that's more lore/story focused than spice focused.

An excerpt for the #wipsnips about the dog 'Laps' who I definitely added as a little ✨treat✨ for myself.

Yooooooo I'm on the Street Team for Hellbound to most effectively yell about this book.

It's a good book. Everyone who likes dark settings with horror elements, a twisty plot, and just enough 🌶 should slap it on their TBR (and maybe pre-order it to be cool) 😎

The moment the witch drops her protective circle after teasing the demon for entirely too long.

CW- language and suggestive language surrounding fear + arousal.

Finally my pick of 2025- Will of the Many by James Islington. If you havent gathered yet, I love deeply involved light magic settings based on historical frameworks. Additionally, this is a THICK book that reads fast and truly had me skipping all responsibilities to finish it. Cannot wait to start 2

The book I won't shut up about and EVERYONE NEEDS TO ADD IT TO THEIR GOODREADS/FABLE/TBR.

I enjoyed an advanced copy of this book and it's got *everything* - great cast, humor, horror, romance, shadow tentacles, spice. It's well-paced, interesting and is the authors first novel so 😘 Read it in Aug!

The Non-Fiction Round Up. Shout out to Green's book which proved to me I can read and enjoy non-fiction. All three of these are absolutely incredible books, that don't read overly technical, and give human histories of each topic in an approachable way.

The prettiest prose. This is a fairly long book and a tough read in several spots. I've also never read anything this long written from this perspective. But it's a wonderful listen, and the exchanges in several parts had me looking up whole scenes to remember them/re-read.

The book I keep begging everyone to read but nobody has listened to me yet - the setting is SO cool (mage bikes and dinosaurs and kind of wasteland), the love triangle is equally balanced between both m-f and f-f participants, and it's a fun, easy read. Plus non-toxic poly relationships ftw.

My "whoops I spent all weekend reading" book. This was my first Grady Hendrix book, and I found I could not put it down. I spent a solid 48 hours enjoying it with the entirety of a weekend and had 0 regrets- feminine rage, historical setting, sisterhood and magic? Yes, please.

The straight bummers aka dystopian futures. Out of all three, I am *constantly* reminded of Hum in my daily life and mention it far more often than anyone wants to hear about.

My least favorite books of the year. The Courage to be Disliked is technically a philosophy summation so maybe I just hate Adlerian philosophy. The Midnight Library was... fine. It felt dull, predictable and generally didnt hold my interest much.

My most unexpectedly enjoyable read. Considered "modern fiction", I found the pacing to be perfect, the dialogue witty and fun, and the messaging punchy without being overdone. I picked it up for the cover art and didn't regret it at all.

My YA (young adult) pick- it's so much fun, it made me laugh and gasp "oh dear" on multiple ocassions. @runwithskizzers.bsky.social had so much fun with this book and I really enjoyed it. In a genre with a lot of forgettable content, this one really stands out.

My adult romance pick - man I love this book. It's fmc protagonist is relatable
, the supporting characters well developed, the mmc *my type* and the spicy scenes 👌

Books that I wanted to like more and didn't. The descriptions were just gruesome in both, the triggers a bit too frequent, and the age gap romances weird. Both fine books in their own right, but not my cup of tea.

My longest read for this year- I found the slow pacing and diction in this book deeply comforting. I also fell asleep a lot reading it and that's okay! I really leaned into getting immersed in it and taking my time with it. Recommend for those with patience and low-magic historical settings.

The YA Trilogies. I read both out loud to the kid - a re-read of Garth Nix and a first read of The Hunger Games.

Both fantastic series in their own rights, but if you haven't read the Garth Nix Abhorsen books, you MUST.

Best YA series still in so many ways but definitely for this year.

In 2024, I discovered Kim Harrison through her Shadow Age novel and was hooked. While waiting (very impatiently) for the next, I picked up her Hollows series. I am flabbergasted more folks haven't enjoyed these. They read GREAT as audiobooks and are so fun. Absolutely critical for urban fantasy.

Top series of the year. Hands down. Definitely in my top 5 of all time. 2025 saw me throught the Victory of Eagles to the end. I wept when I finished this series because I desperately wanted more. Novik is incredible, everything she writes leaves me hopeful and human. She inspired me to write again

Beautifully written. I feel asleep a lot reading it. The kid loved it. Not enough dragons.

Everyone should read it because everyone should read Le Guin, but I will re-read Left Hand of Darkness in 2026 instead of finishing out the Earthsea books.

My goal for 2025 was a book a week.
I will probably fall a little short in the 45 range.

But I read ✨️ so many ✨️ new things plus a few old.

I read out loud to the kid, listened to audiobooks, took my time with a few non-fiction and indulged in at least 21 paper copy books.

I'll be sharing them 👇

Not usually, but this next batch that I co-wrote with my married partner? Maybe a bit. 🙈 But it's good. And if I needed to create it, then someone out there will also appreciate it.

To quote my favorite shirt "Life is short, why not get weird with it?", which I got from @hiddenstash.bsky.social

I absolutely LOVED working with this artist for Ren's Halloween themed commission. Please consider them for your Yule/Holiday inspired scenes.

Quick to spice but slow to nice.

I write a bit of everything, but in my current romance wip, the characters both come into the arrangement rather damaged and distrustful. While lust and carnal passion are expected, nobody anticipates someone will catch feelings.

It's strictly business...right?

Ren finds the demon Svad's appearance both terrifying and thrilling. She struggles with undeniable need to be close to him while feeling deep guilt for the attraction to something so monstrous.

But her last partner was totally 'normal' and really awful, so the maybe authenticity is easier to trust.
