The "See Your Doctor" poster campaign was later written up in the Brooklyn Eagle on Wednesday February 7, 1940.

Brooklyn Eagle newspaper write-up: Mayor Spurs War On Social Disease Mayor LaGuardia in awarding prizes to winners of the citywide poster competition conducted by the Social Hygiene Bureau of the Department of Health today made an appeal against the "ignorance and hypocrisy" which, he said, are chiefly responsible for the failure to wipe out social diseases. Top prize winners were: Herbert R. Loges, 370 Lexington Ave., Manhattan, first prize; Alex Steinweiss, 1280 E. 12th St., Brooklyn, second prize, and John F. Jordan Jr., 8721 94th St., Woodhaven, third prize. More than 100 posters, urging sufferers to "See Your Doctor" were on display. The battle against social diseases, the Mayor said, was a "three-fold battle, against disease, ignorance and hypocrisy." He urged those afflicted to "be sensible" and see a private doctor or, if they cannot afford that, to go to a clinic.

Taking a break from working on a peer review to celebrate #Caturday. Spinning this Kenny Barron & Tommy Flanagan #jazz LP that I recently bought in Beacon, NY. It’s a Japanese release with fascinating yet inexplicable art by Satoshi Saito and photo by Masahisa Fukase.

Released 30 years after the Mingus LP is another favorite: The Sea and Cake’s first album from ’94. I have the LP and CD but my LP’s insert is missing, hence the smaller CD insert: (Still Life with Mingus) painting by bassist Eric Claridge.

The insert has a still life painting by bassist Eric Claridge depicting a green cylindrical vase(?), a blue chalice(?), and the cover of this Mingus LP (minus four Minguses).

Romper searching on the Ovid platform allows you to easily search across multiple databases. If you type the word “use” in the search box and do not enclose the term/phrase within quotation marks, you’ll get the fun yet nondescript romper error.

A large sculpture shaped as the number four in front of three escalators. Within the number four, are a whole bunch of cassette tapes enshrined. Some cassettes are spine-facing and some are front-facing. It is glorious.

While working on a complex search about neglected topical diseases, I was reminded of this fantastic release by Yellow Fever (cats and rats!):
Yellow Fever's 2009 LP release that compiled their previous output. Yellow Fever's name is hand-drawn in yellow against a plain brown background; above is a black-lined drawn rat who is eagerly looking at the viewer; below is a black-lined drawn who is laying down and looking a little judgemental.

Still from the anime Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na! (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!)
