A history of music album art. “Before most people owned a TV set, Steinweiss’s album covers were affordable multi-sensory entertainment. Looking at the album cover & listening to the music created an experience that was more than the sum of its parts.” [matthewstrom.com]

Taking a break from working on a peer review to celebrate #Caturday. Spinning this Kenny Barron & Tommy Flanagan #jazz LP that I recently bought in Beacon, NY. It’s a Japanese release with fascinating yet inexplicable art by Satoshi Saito and photo by Masahisa Fukase.

Anyone can check out a book. Anyone can enjoy air-conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. Anyone can use the bathroom, sit on a soft chair, log onto the internet. Everyone’s library card looks the same. Children can encounter new worlds, and elders can find community. There’s no red tape.
