Thomas Paines Common Sense fordert 1776 die Unabhängigkeit der amerikanischen Kolonien und argumentiert, entgegen britischen Theorien der Zeit, dass unter monarchischer Regierung kein #Rechtsstaat möglich sei. In dieser Tradition warnt auch #NoKings vor der Unterhöhlung gesichert geglaubter Rechte.
