I'm at the @politico.com AI and Tech Summit this morning.

A fascinating conversation with Sen Ted Cruz where he explained how 800 MHz of spectrum became available for auction in the OBBBA, with a large chunk of upper C band in play. (Hint: because it was bigger than 600 MHz!)

I'm incredibly sad to hear of Marc Garneau's passing. More than an astronaut and politician, he was a pioneer and the pride of Canada. Thinking of his loved ones tonight.
Marc Garneau, Canadian astronaut and former federal cabinet minister, has died at age 76.

Fascinating. Anthropic describing their latest system as a "concerning improvement". Shows a new angle in the AI race - they who have the most advanced system also have an obligation to identify safety and security measures.

So long as there aren't models that perform differently for different price points. Uh, that's already happening.

Just think how students with IEPs and limited modalities available to learn could thrive with AI. Let's make sure they aren't getting inferior tech than those that can pay.
If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

Reactions in front of official Hansard transcribes vs back room politics are a tad different (lessons from a former page).

Garbage in, garbage out as they say
"pitched by software developers as a tool that “allows users to forecast parliamentary reactions to proposed policies”. [It] analyses Hansard, the official parliamentary record of debates, to offer “insights into how parliament might react to a new policy if it were debated tomorrow”." - oh dear
This story sounds like an April Fool but is in fact a great scoop
