"In the Hills, the Cities" by by Clive Barker. No link but really I could fill this list with Barker, and I think this one is his weirdest (ie: best). Two cities engage in ritual combat and the scale is absolutely existential, the violence incomprehensible in its scale, when one of those cities dies
