I am 78 & would be homeless if it were not for Medicaid paying a portion of my monthly fees at this assisted living place. I pay 76% of the fees with my Social Security check. Could not rent an apartment, pay utilities, buy food on my own. Or live on my own. I need the services offered here.
Medicaid, is the primary payor of 60% of nursing home patients. And yes, they watch TV or hang out because they're in NURSING HOMES.

Medicaid is the primary payer for over 6 in 10 residents in nursing facilities.

Kristi Noem is living free of charge in Coast Guard commandant’s home
A DHS spokesman said Noem must live on the military base because she had been “so horribly doxxed and targeted that she is no longer able to safely live in her own apartment.”

This is a giant redwood and that tiny thing next to it is a human being. This is what happens if you let it grow and even protect it.

Russell Vought claimed on CNN this weekend that NIH funding is corrupt.

As @juliametraux.bsky.social reported this February, his family has directly benefited from the NIH.
Project 2025 is gutting medical funding that helped Russell Vought's own kid
Its architect's daughter has cystic fibrosis—and benefits from a "miracle drug" backed by an agency he's attacking.

The people who lost children and other loved ones in the Texas floods are owed honest answers from officials. They should be told why flash flood warnings issued hours earlier were not conveyed to people in the path of the water. They don’t need more prayers from politicians. They need answers.

The next time a politician claims we can’t house the homeless, feed the starving or give medical care to the poor—remember that they were able to build a concentration camp in 8 days. Instead we’re spending the money on fascist facilities and cutting taxes for the wealthy. Disgusting and vile.

ICE *already* can't meet their detainment numbers without rounding up children, veterans, people born in the U.S., people with no criminal records, people at immigration hearings, plus academics and visitors with valid visas.

So who do they plan to detain with >10x the budget?

The answer is: you.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.
