Got bored with social media again...
Like, why am I even on here?

You know you can make your own advent calendar right?

I'm making mine this year by writing book names on 12 paper tree ornaments I cut out. And I just take one down each day and buy the Kobo book and read it. It's how I'm giving myself permission to buy my wishlist this year.

This was an amazing piece to encounter at Stedelijk. I plan on doing a blog post later. The color palette was gorgeous. Looks like the photo for the placard was for the wrong placard...now I don't know the painter's name, but their piece was profound to me. Guess I need to go back...

Another Stedelijk piece I was proud of taking from yesterday.

A photo I took of Stedelijk museum stairs that I'm rather proud of.

Picked up a book on Medieval France to work on Bloody Edelweiss and Neon Gods which was on my wishlist for a year and went on sale for $2.
Off to a modern art museum to take photos, go to a cafe to drink coffee and write a blog post, and go home to read.

So
Who's making stuff or thrifting for Christmas this year rather than buying new?
I'm curious how many people are sick of the over consumption influencers and just rebounded in the opposite direction.

Finally watched the first episode of Discovery of Witches after reading the books every October for the last 5+ years.

A: WTF???
B: Why???
C: Is this meant to be a fanfic? Cause what happened to the...whole... storyline?

Day 2 of a weird migraine that keeps ping ponging around the speaking center of my brain. Could do without that.

So...
Can I just like...graph a colorwork off some pixel art and make fingerless gloves to speck now that I know how many stitches around and up I need to do?
November 27, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Frogging 100% wool colorwork suuuuucks.
Would not recommend.

As someone from the US...
I genuinely have been reading USians and pronouncing it like you would say US-Asian mashed together and thought it was referring as short form to Asian Americans...
Learned something today...
Yeahhhh, I used it once or twice, then left the country and literally everyone is like “oh, you’re American”. Regular folks don’t even know this is any kind of debate.
yeah this is exactly why USians continues to irritate me

Why pirate reading material today when I've got two perfectly free books you can read that would put your grandma's knickers in a twist.

I've got:
👉a plague doctor destroys a clan for a birthright
👉a hoodrat gets shown some affection and become the most loyal weapon around

Going to take two weekends to go see model trains.
There's one in Rotterdam and one in Hamburg and I can't wait.

Why is fixing a cat not called a Catsnip Operation?

I'll see myself out.

Fighting with how to finish the Dresden plate Christmas tree skirt. I don't know if I should try applique for the first time and let the skirt be square, or fiddly bit the backing and bind it...
Or how to set the ties in it.
Is it bade to ignore the backing and just bind the edge as a single layer?

My concept of Celsius is very poor, but I'm getting there.

0 and under makes everything hurt if I don't have enough layers.

20-25 is pleasant
30+ sucks without air conditioning.

Folks, if your library doesn’t have a book you want to read, ask them to buy a copy. Most have a convenient form and will let you know when it comes in. If your library offers ILL, they can even borrow books from other libraries.

Should I offer my editing services?
This is why you hire an editor.
Genuinely.

Tell me when you see it.

If I find you have some hash tag AI art support thing on your bio or your promoting AI art, I'm gonna block you.
Just what's gonna happen.

I now live in a country that doesn't do a November feast day.
But Wren doesn't work on Thanksgiving because remote work.
So, instead of us futzing with a Turkey in the micro oven, we're going to find a KFC on Thursday. I'm eating all the vegetarian options and he gets his poultry fix.

I consistently ended up with covid for the last 3 years because the extended family we would go see would always have one sniffling kid that 'just had allergies'.

I might be looking forward to not doing Thanksgiving this year for reasons.
We always see a surge of infectious disease, including COVID, RSV, etc etc around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unless you want to gift your fam with a few weeks sick this year, mask up as you travel!

Deep sigh
I've actually got all my household goods scheduled to start international shipment on black Friday and my dogs are scheduled to fly on Dec 18.

And there are drones grounding aircraft in Eindhoven.

Fuuuuu

Slang - either means hose or snake in dutch.

Also reminds me of the old word schlang - which I guess is Yiddish for snake also...

Anyways
