Missed release day of All Quiet on the Terraces, lots of family down, sleeping a lot.

We got married last night from my hospital bed. Not an ideal way to do it, but staff made it as magical as they could. Registry Office accepted rapid expedition and made it possible I could give non verbal responses to questions on those not requiring verbal answers. and we couldn't be more grateful to both. Will share photos in due course

Finished listening to the audio book of this tonight by @stephellis.bsky.social

This really got under my skin. Might require a second listen.
A 5 star review for The Barricade by Stephanie Ellis This book really got under my skin. it felt at once quite familiar, but soon enough that all went out of the window and I gave up my usual attempts to try to work it all out - nothing is what it seems. At first it had a bit of a Fallout vibe, but as the story went on, mystery on top of the dystopia, and so many twists and turns added into the mix. Far from feeling confusing (as some reviews have said) this just added more layers to a seemingly unending mystery. The ideas and the execution are going to stay with me for a while. Great job to the author.

I've been tinkering with a blurb for All Quiet on the Terraces this afternoon.

Still not 100% there, but need to sleep on it.

It's not quite finished, but I've made good progress today on AInshittification. It's taken a bit of a dark(ish) turn too.
Hugh hoped the air would clear with the AI systems going down, but the job-stealing, water-stealing, humanity-stealing power plants continued to belch yellow smoke into the atmosphere while AI-generated “people” smiled on a banner congratulating the owner’s green credentials. In just a few weeks when Pride Month started, the owners would be congratulating themselves for showing support to their LGBTQIA+ employees, despite the company currently being sued in separate cases by members of every letter of the acronym.

Getting better at identifying hoverflies. Other half thought it was a wasp, but the eyes and wings are a dead giveaway that it's a fly.

It was also mimicking the stabbing motion of a stinger.

I'II make sure not to pitch in situations like that again, especially if comments are closed for that reason.
