Been getting ready to start some “5 Parsecs from Home”. Been printing out some paper figs by @okumarts.bsky.social and putting together an Obsidian vault to track the crew and encounters.
Started turn 1; have the details of the first encounter ready. Will play it tonight!

It’s been a long summer. About to be back on my bullshit playing solo HeroQuest.
Just spruced up my HQ “Dashboard” in Obsidian. Also acquired a foldable puzzle table (with trays!) so I can have plenty of space without having to contend for space at the kitchen table.

My brother passed away Friday morning from complications related to cancer (which he only discovered a few weeks ago).
I joke that he’s the “older twin brother” (by like 10 years). Literally everything I’m about — writing, RPGs, music etc — I got from following his lead.
Fuck Cancer.

My urge to kick the tires on ol’ #4E D&D came from playing HeroQuest solo mode and Five Leagues from the Borderlands, reminding me that skirmish heavy games can still be fun. Anyway, revisiting the DMG made me realize this edition had stuff that was ready for me, before I was ready for it.
So here’s the #4E library rebuild. I’m focusing on mostly hard copies of player-facing rules. I’m lacking Martial Power 2, Psionic Power and Primal Power before I’m satisfied.
Happy that most of these I picked up cheap from eBay or Half Price Books.

WoTC is really leaving some money on the table not having the core books of this edition print on demand. This came out great — I would repurchase a lot of the player/power books in this format for table use

Last few weeks has been pretty awful. More home repairs, family health issues, I personally had to struggle between my doc and pharmacy to refill heart & brain meds.
So it felt good to visit old friends and run some #4E #DND last night. Lots of laughs, homemade pizzas, and lots of dice rolling.

Really happy with how this guy turned out! First time using ink to color the “spell” effect and I’m pleased as punch.
Also: just ran my kid through an improv dungeon crawl using HeroQuest figs and Loke Battlemats. Gonna call this a damn good Sunday.

So, I haven’t painted a humanoid character/non-mech in ages (literally decade+) Also haven’t painted since starting Wellbutrin. Was pleased how ol’ Legolas turned out here.
