Continually surprised how little love White Mountains Insurance $WTM gets from the value community.
This transaction adds $310 per share (+ ~17%) to book value based on an asset that was marked at $91 per share at their annual shareholder meeting - and was just acquired last year.

FNV also purchased a 1% royaty on AngloGold's Arthur project in Nevada from Altius Minerals. This was an ATG investment by Altius: invested about $400k for a 1.5% royalty. Sold 2/3 of the royalty to FNV for $375 million and retainted the remainder.

Spent the weekend enraptured by "The Year of Reading Dangerously" by Andy Miller from @backlisted.bsky.social . By far the best book I've read this year. (This is not meant as a backhanded compliment, @iammilliam.bsky.social . I realize the year just began.) I cannot recommend it enough.

@iammilliam.bsky.social Since you are such a great fan of Thomas Bernhard, do yourself a favor: give Adam Ehrlich Sachs a try. Sachs is like Bernhard had he received an appropriate pharmacological intervention of uppers.
