It’s time for a rewrite.

I cannot stand to see another person making inane small talk of “so where are you going to move? New Zealand? Canada?” Fuck that.

There is one America. It plays a critical role in our world. We are *the* example of what’s possible when many different people come together as one.

Do not despair.

My $0.02 — the message for everyone (left, moderate, center right) should be: I love America. Deny the claims that we are in disarray. Deny the lies that we are behind. Acknowledge the sins, but cherish the wins of the past.

None of which I’ve observed thus far. You have to build trust, write policy that lasts, and do more than write some regex and be a reductive asshole.

We’ll see…

…but they’re also sorta “right.” They’ve found a few cases of real waste and a bigger indictment of how everything is duct taped and wrapped in shit. Cool. Airing the dirty laundry and destroying credibility is the easy part.

Actually fixing it though, will require a very different set of skills…

And here’s the interesting thing…the poor methodology doesn’t matter. By finding shitty data artifacts (like a 150 year old person who is actually just “alive” to recognize a pension obligation for a living descendent) they’re exposing the inefficiencies of the current system.

They’re “wrong”…

Here’s the pattern match:

* kids get access to Prod
* kids don’t understand data conventions or known issues
* kids find 75% data artifacts and 25% truth
* kids report everything in clear, confident words

Everyone is shocked by:
1) poor methodology and lack of understanding
2) the 25% truths
