The problem the democrats had with their campaign strategy of only warning that trump was a fascist and going to be a dictator, I’ve realized the majority of Americans really don’t understand the meaning of those words. They don’t understand what fascism actually means and what’s coming.

This is the key point, and not just in immigration. They're going to go Shock and Awe out of the gate on punishing their "enemies" and demonstrating their cruelty, and the 6 Republicans on the Supreme Court are not going to stop them.
Meaning they will not be constrained by concerns about legal precedent or political backlash (they will find vindication in it). We should believe them when they tell us they think this is a fight for "civilization" - they are wrong but this is how we should predict that they will act.
