I remember watching this in theatres and as the credits rolled my friend asking me if I was okay. I hadn't even noticed I was bawling. Truly one of the most powerful cinematic experiences I have ever had. Upon each rewatch it still takes me there. Every fucking time.

This is always a hard watch for me as I'm sure it is for many but I'm always blown away by how powerfully and sensitively the subject matter is handled. How lived in the performances seem. How it balances the poetry and emotion of the source material perfectly. This is truly a work of goddamn art.

My rewatch of the Teen Apocalypse Trilogy has led me on a total Araki spree. I rewatched Splendor and while it is still perhaps my least favorite of his films I couldn't help but marvel at how chock full of energy and horniness it is. Also...still very queer.

Just watched Mike Flanagan's Absentia.
Many of his signature touches are present and there is an easy chemistry between the two leads that really draws you in.
Perhaps not scary enough for some horror fans but a thoughtful examination overall.
