Hello internet my name is Chamomile and I am on Bluesky
Punishment is a political necessity. We must restore deterrence. Targeting enemy power centers is not generally optional if you plan to win, and people arguing otherwise are grounding themselves in cinema, not history.

Seems like the new version of hanging/burning effigies to me. New and also worse, but still, we're not in unprecedented territory with people trying to make something happen through a combination of building hype and magical thinking.

It's not even Udun or Barad-Dur or some other actual fortress Sauron built. Just, Sauron. They aren't self-identifying as the bad guy fortress. They are just self-identifying as the bad guy.

There were like two million space marines total. The real question is how they were able to expand rapidly in all directions in the first place, even if only against local or regional rivals.

But...homeless people don't have an address. Whatever they give to the hotel, they're making it up anyway. They could just make up an address from another town.

Optimistically, they look like teenage girls because the target audience is teenage boys.

But realistically, most of their income probably comes from divorced men who can afford to be whales.

You seem confused. "Never aspirationally push to make things law, only discuss laws that already exist" is the side of the argument *you* are on.

If you don't want people to discuss any principles that they have not already codified into law, how do you expect them to get codified into law?

"Stancil is crashing out" and "Stancil has a public humiliation fetish" are just corncobbing. Stancil's tone never changes and he guts his interlocutors as often as not, and the bullies just do not have a script for dealing with that except to pretend it isn't happening.

Bad writing is written by real people, too. I mean, except when it isn't, but that's recent. Point is, people take cues from movies and books when writing real letters and if they aren't good writers it will sound like a bad novel.

It doesn't have to. We could send the Marines to secure the site, get every single person detained there back to the United States, and sort out who's who within a couple of months. The only part of this that's more than a minor inconvenience to us is getting political leadership to act decisively.

Kevin McAllister is only vulnerable to other children. Plot conventions would never allow him to lose to an adult.

"Donald Trump is elected, fails in his coup, then gets elected again" absolutely sounds like a convoluted prerequisite to a joke ending.

Article 5 only applies to defensive wars, so if it's Poland going in to save Ukraine, then even if it's to head off an inevitable invasion of Poland should Ukraine fall, NATO is not obligated to follow. On the other hand, a lot of NATO members have good reason to do so anyway.

Closest I can think of is the AA-9 Coruscant freighter, which is both the space bus and also the space truck that brings stuff to whatever space Wal-Mart is. It's not a store, but it's commercial, and it's a cheap all-in-one, so kind of Wal-Mart-esque vibes? I'm working with what I've got here.

More crucially, it doesn't matter with a rogue, lawless SCOTUS. This is a problem that a Dem president can't solve by just appointing a more aggressive guy, but it's absolutely a necessary step to the solution and whoever's president next needs to have a plan to get it done.

People are convinced they killed NFTs with the sheer power of their poasting. No, guys. NFTs were all hype and no practical use case. Tech that actually does stuff won't go down like that.

I didn't read the EULA so I'm hedging my bets.

I see BlueSky's incapacity to understand jokes is not deterred by actual explicit "this is a joke" labels.

He's a comedy gaming YouTuber. The book is the word "Doug" roughly 50,000 times. It's a perfectly good joke, but also a YouTuber sold more books with a gag he threw together in a weekend than fulltime authors do in a book that took a year to write.

Doug: The DougDoug Story is an Amazon bestseller because the most successful books are merch for YouTube channels whose contents do not matter at all.

A friend of mine used to ask "we're so bad at things, how did we end up in charge?" Now we know: Because no one else will even try.
