ITS SUUUVH A GOOD FABRIC SO. ALAS. I will say I have a wool cardigan from uniqlo that is less itchy than the other two wool items I own so I wonder how they source and process in comparison...

I don't have a wool allergy because I can use lanolin projects I just have paper skin that freaks out at everything. I am very wise!

it's part of why we have so few remaining examples. people truly did just keep wearing stuff until it fell apart

the interesting thing is that a lot of poor people, at least in the Netherlands, would basically do what a lot of working class people do now: thrift. so when rich people got rid of their clothes, eventually the poor would just take those and have them re-tailored.

tbh since it's quasi-medieval / early modern I've always assumed all clothing is tailored even for the poor! Made to wear sizing wasn't really common until after wwii irl iirc (this has come up in my job LOL)
