I'm so used to Australia being more politically embarassing compared to NZ that this is a little unsettling

I think we need to stop treating Trump as though he were an orange buffoon - he's almost unbelievably dangerous. In a little over 100 days he's wrecked the world economy, shut down environmental protections, deported his own citizens and almost started WW3.

Our AoNZ Prime Minister is very keen on a rules based world order. I wonder if he could tell me which rule allows America to assassinate people it doesn't like and destroy a country's infrastructure? And can he explain which rule we will be following by backing America's drive to start WW3?

Apparently our Prime Minister is worried that Chinese tourists aren't rushing here. Perhaps he should look at his government's policies. You know, the one which borrows $12b we don't have to buy American was toys to help Trump to go to war against China.

"Local water done well" - that was National's promise when they killed Three Waters, and now we can see what that means. The new standard for sewage pumped into the sea allows the e-coli score to rise from 1,000 to 40,000 per 100ml. I'm lost for words.

New research provides conclusive proof that 20mph in London is saving lives.

14 yrs of analysis at 150+ sites - reviewed by experts - shows:

❤️40% fewer deaths (vs 7% drop on roads where no changes were made)
❤️75% fewer children killed & 50% fewer kids hurt

And slower speeds deliver so much more:

I watched this speech with tears in my eyes, devastated with the thought that we have driven her from Aotearoa. I'm not a fan of her politics but I sure miss her passion, talent and sense of values. All thing which are sadly lacking from the Coalition of Cruelty.

I think you are being unfair. Our Prime Minister has set very high standards of behaviour for his cabinet, and as soon as he gets to work next week, the Minister will be gone. As a strong leader and Christian, he will not stand for this drunken behaviour. Or .....?

What I'd just say to you is, thank goodness the Herald always reserves a small space on page 12 for stories reporting my government's Minister's drunken, racist behaviour & saves the front page for rich listers country club news.

I'm starting to think it's time for the Coalition of Cruelty to admit they have no idea what they are doing - and call an election. There is not one meaningful measure that shows Aotearoa is getting better. I don't think I can't take much more of watching our country being ruined.

So our ferries are not going to last until 2029 as promised by Nicola Willis when she cancelled Labour's ferry order. Yet another examples of how the "don't worry, the cuts are just to wasteful spending" lies are coming home to roost. The 18 months ahead are not looking good.

I find it sad that New Zealand's government believes building motorways and buying war toys are critical to improve the economy of Aotearoa but feeding our kids and carrying out scientific research is wasteful spending.

Another example of the New Zealand government's petty short term funding decisions this morning. A friend has Covid, so I thought my wife and I should get tested. But two Covid tests are now $20. Save on tests - spend on hospital beds instead. Excellent management thinking!

So China earns the respect of our Pacific neighbors by funding schools, infrastructure and businesses. New Zealand's response is to borrow billions we don't have to buy American war toys to meet Trump's 2% minimum. In what universe will that gain the support of our neighbors?
April 7, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Just wondering what's happened to Groundswell and all the 3 Waters protesters in New Zealand. They spent millions fighting Labour's plan to take away their assets but seem to be fine with National selling off schools, hospitals and roads to overseas interests.

So the NACT party in New Zealand is going to change the law to allow overseas online gambling sites to advertise here - so more New Zealanders can export their hard earned income. Wow - how's that for a focus on the cost of living crisis?

Isn't our New Zealand government smart? We're chasing overseas investments - like online gambling companies. They'll do a great job sending New Zealand dollars overseas and that'll make a huge difference to our economy. Mmmmm?
