If he were to declare himself King, he'd be paving the way for his progeny to take over after him. Don Jr would be next in line. If Herr Trump does indeed not run in 2028, the Trump 2028 merch being sold is a hint that Don Jr or Ivanka is in the wings. JD is not even on the table.
