This is part of the idea. Increase price of gas due to "importing" => start drilling more in the USA in previously non approved areas (dismantled EPA).

What's missing is that price will not go down. "If you can sell it high, you'll sell it high".

Canada accounts for about 60% of U.S. crude oil imports. If Trump's tariffs end up applying to that oil, that would likely cause gas prices to rise in the U.S., Canada's ambassador warns.

The entire website for the NIH Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is very nearly stripped bare. This is so, so devastating. orwh.od.nih.gov/research/fun...

I am genuinely curious how these MAGA people think that the world works and progress gets made. Through private funding only?

I mean, this whole "no government since we can do it better on our own" - at some point the penny must drop, right?

key thing for the GOP/Trumpist in power. As they don't believe in science, none of this matters to them.
It might, however, mean something to the voters with a person in clinical trials for treatment or needing new research to find hope for a cure...
Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions

I can only take the "it'll be interesting when they realize" as the first EOs are starting to take effect.
NIH study sections closed "for now".
Clinical trials will postpone and affect US citizens.

CDC will closely follow, with no mandate to support US citizens.
more people will unnecessarily die

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Episcopalian Bishop of Washington DC.

It's an excerpt from a longer segment where Rev Buddie speaks about seeing your neighbor without judgement.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

First post here, took a walk in freezing temps in the sun to cleanse my spirit & mind.

It's draining to hear all the lies and the rewriting of history plus the constant disregard of science, hard work and being a regular person (and woman).....
