Real question… is there potential upside to these purges? Ie, is there any way some of these health/doctor/nurse associations actually pull together for good and provide separate options?

If they do great work, for the job you hired them for, why are you looking to replace them for an unknown just because of “ambition”. Hire for the today and build tomorrow. You have a good EE, why disrupt everything that comes with that to look elsewhere? What kind of culture does that build?
Do you keep them, or try to find someone who can do that job and wants to be promoted ?
